Project Name :  EU and Turkey: Connecting Identities, Bridging Cultures

The aim of the project is to inform the students and the academicians about the concept of being a European Union (EU) citizen in the eve of the Turkey’s full membership to the EU and to make the students and the academicians active and effective within the process. Furthermore, the project aims to introduce Turkish culture and values and to contribute to the elimination of the prejudices, if there are any, about the EU in Turkey. More specifically, the aim of the symposiums, seminars, and workshops to be held within the framework of the project is to improve dialogues among the countries.
It is important to improve knowledge of the university students and the academicians about the citizenship of the EU as such awareness will facilitate eradication of the difficulties that the Turkey’s socio-economic conditions cause in the process of full membership. The introduction and the discovery of the Turkish culture and values which actually act as a bridge between the eastern and western cultures will play an important role in developing a perception of multiculturalism as richness and developing peace among different cultures. Discovering the common cultures and values is an important tool for creating a cooperation to contribute to the respect for human rights and democracy. It is also important that by basing on theoretical and practical techniques, solutions can be found to the problems that may emerge during the process of creating dialogue and the process of identifying the different approaches of the universities in Germany, Italy and Turkey towards each other.

The project budget is  293625 €.
